History

SINCE 1967

Founded in 1967, the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity (KOFAC) is a government-affiliated institute dedicated to make policies to promote S&T culture and cultivate students of creative talent with the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), and the Ministry of Education (MOE).

For over half a century, we took the lead to popularize the culture of science, bring public awareness, and nurture young scientists and engineers as pillars of S&T culture. We make effective advisory systems for policy makers so that the government can make policies to enhance scientific culture and train creative future leaders. Through public education of scientific and technological innovations, we try to bridge the gap between the world of S&T and the public. Also, we collaborate with organizations in multiple areas to engage in diverse projects to nurture talented people for the advancement of science and technology.

In order to reinforce science, mathematics, and SW·AI Education, we cooperate with schools so that educational policies may be accurately applied in classroom settings. We support the school’s effort to change while fostering young scientists and engineers who can proactively lead in this rapidly changing society. Moreover, we deal with social issues and try to create social values through various projects based on science and creativity.

We as KOFAC will do our best to continue to become a science-driven, people-centered, and trustworthy organization for a better future.
